Another sunny season has passed, and the “dreadful” rain is creeping up. I say “dreadful” because I am speaking on behalf of the last bit of you Vancouverites and other Raincity dwellers who still do not have H to T rain gear. For shame! Being a picky shopaholic myself, the only excuse I could come up with as acceptable was: I still haven’t found the right pair.

Well, some what acceptable. Better than the dog keeps eating mine (are you rubbing peanut butter on them??)

Anyways, with this glorious sunshine I doubt this mysterious breed of non-wellie owning people are even thinking about the slippery slopes that lay ahead. Lucky for them, I am always thinking how to improve my rain boot closet as well as yours. So here are just a few of my favorite styles this fall! Click here to shop and browse more of my fav styles.

The Bog Mckenna $250

The Bog Mckenna, retails for $250. A little steep for a rain boot, right? WRONG. So wrong. The Bog Mckenna is made from a treated leather, which covers their infamous neo-tech upper. In English, they are leather boots that are water proof AND cold temperature rated. In Kathryn-talk: Pure boot glory! So when your husband, or judgmental friend, asks “How could you spend that much on a rain boot?!” Its simple math my friends. 1 pair @$250 – 1 pair of rain boots – 1 pair of leather boots = More shopping money & more room in your closet. Or maybe another pair in brown?

Mel By Melissa Lace Ankle Boot $65

Alright, if you’re scoffing my above attempt to convince you, or are still suffering from price shock: Breathe. I’ll take it down a notch or two (hundred) for you newbies and pinchers. Lace has been a new addition to our wardrobes for the past year, so it’s no exclusion to the rain world. This delicate detail is perfect for the women who still rock a frock in the fall. Eco-friendly, recyclable, cruelty-free, and 100% of materials used during production makes this a steal at only $65. A trendy steal!

DAV Festival Leopard $59

Finally, I have a bit of a tease because these are going to be hard to get! Sorry.. But how can I not feature these? It’s rain boot magic. They feel like your favorite knit scarf, they look like the trendiest leopard sweater in your favorite boutique, Oh- but they keep your feet dry! Yup, no big deal. I don’t really understand this wizardry, but I like it. This knit-feel rain boot can be worn slouchy, up high and proud, with skinnies, or with a skirt. Are you one of the lucky travelers of the world? Roll em up and take them with you. Doesn’t even have to be raining. There is always time to show your wild side. Maybe you aren’t so wild.. That’s okay, they are available in a black snake pattern as well.

I really could go off about why I love each pair of our rain boots. But you’ve probably already stopped reading this and are swooping our store. Come babies, we will keep you dry from the rain!

They may have big shoes to fill, let’s meet the new GumDrops crew: Morgan and Taylor, our newest rain boot enthusiasts to the store. And Aly, she may not be new- but she has yet to be introduced! She’s our customer care representative and we hope you love her and much as we do!

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

M: A giraffe – no I changed my answer – I would be a koala bear.

T: A liger.

A: A dog. I get to sleep all day

If you could be friends with any celebrity, alive or dead, who would it be?

M: Zooey Deschanel. I think she would be a really great friend!

T: I would like to be Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris. I know that’s not a real answer, but it’s my answer.

A: Beyonce so she can teach me some dance moves

What is your secret obsession?

M: MTV reality series’. Shhh… don’t tell!

T: The smell of clothes being laundered in a dryer – like, I like to go into laundromats and smell.

M: That sounds like a Taylor thing.

A: Online Shopping [She's not joking!!]

What movie have you seen so many time you can quote it?

M: When I travelled across Canada for a summer, we had only Empire Records and Dirty Dancing to watch the whole summer – so those two. And Crybaby. I made Taylor watch it. It’s so good!

T: And I loved it. But my answer is Pulp Fiction.

A: A Walk To Remember

What do you miss most about being a kid?

M: The days being really long, and riding my bike all day and pretending it was a horse.

T: When my brothers were young enough to be afraid of their big sister, but I was still their only friend, we used to play Fumbleball – I held a football and my brothers flanked either side of me and I would throw the ball in the air and we would beat each other up before it landed and whoever caught the ball would win the round. I always won. Now they’re bigger than me and it’s not fun anymore.

A: Having summers off

What is your favorite Youtube clip?

M: I don’t know what it’s called – it’s the little girl with her dad singing Home by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes.

T: Chocolate Rain.

A: A walk on the wild side.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

M: Chicken and Feta Cheese. And Spinach and tomatoes and garlic. It’s really good.

T: Veggie anything with onions.

A: Chorizo

What is your favorite magazine?

M: I’m gonna go with………………… National Geographic. It was a toss-up between that or Canadian Geographic, but sometimes the rest of the world is just more interesting.

T: Juxtapoz. Or Modern Drummer.

A: InStyle- dever since Rachel Bilson started writing columns for them!

What is something you’re still trying to find?

M: I don’t know – I’m not trying to find anything.

T: That’s a pretty good place to be. I’ve lost terabytes of digital music over the last 8 years and I can’t remember most of what I’ve lost so I’m pretty bummed about that.

A: A new bag!

The Hills or Jersey Shore?

M: Jersey Shore – only because they’re all nice to each other.

T: OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO……The Hills obvi…..

A: Jersey Shore, or The Hills.. I cant pick!!

Twilight or High School Musical?

M: The least embarrassing answer – HSM. Haha.

T: Neither. Ever.

A: Ew, neither

[Looks like Brianna is the only GumDropper who loves HSM and Twilight! hehehe]

What is the farthest away you’ve ever been from home?

M: New York would be farther than California, right?

T: Israel.

A: England

If you could hop into a DeLorean and travel back in time, where/when would you go?

M: I would go to The Cavern Club in the ’60s, when the Beatles played there.

T: Every era in human-kind, and then pre-humanity. I love history…why would I only go to ONE time or place?

M: That’s a good answer. History rules!

A: High school. [She wasn't joking.. She LOVED high school!]

What is your favorite TV show?

M: Right now; Sons of Anarchy. But also, How I Met Your Mother.

T: Either Skins or True Blood or Absolutely Fabulous. I can quote just about every line from every episode of Ab Fab, so probably actually Ab Fab.

A: So You Think You Can Dance, The Bachelor(ette), and Coronation Street

What is your favorite Tim Burton movie?

M: It’s a tie! Edward Scissorhands AND Nightmare Before Christmas… Maaking Christmas LALALA!

T: I can’t possibly choose…….. I agree with Morgan but would also add Big Fish and Sweeney Todd to the list………………………

A: I don’t know he’s weird.. Alice in Wonderland?

What book could you read again and again and again and again?

M: Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, and Pride and Prejudice.

T: On A Pale Horse by Piers Anthony.

A: The Lauren Conrad book

What is your favorite spot in Vancouver?

M: Definitely Stanley Park. I love the train ride, and even though they’re not there anymore I have so many memories of going down to watch the penguins on their slide, and the polar bears!

T: Okay, so… when I was in high school there was this secret beach before Jericho…JUST east of Jericho, and there was this tiny little secret spot where you had to climb through bushes and over a railing to get to, and somebody had taken a park bench and put it on this little, tiny, mini cliff and that was the place where our crew would hang out every day in the summer… Until some undesirable had destroyed the bench and threw it into the sea!

A: Granville Island

What is your favorite word in the English language?

M: I like the word Conundrum. I like the sound of it, and I like it’s meaning and how much fun it can bring

T: I really like how it feels to say the words “plate” and “keep”.

M: hah! Plate is definitely fun to say. I also like “bucket”… except when you say it enough it stops sounding like the word! [We tried, it's true!]

A: Shopping

What album can you listen to from start to finish without skipping any songs?

M: Well I went through my iPod and came up with quite a long list so a few of my faves/never get sick of are as follows; Jack Johnson – Brushfire Fairytales, Jason Mraz – Mr.A-Z, Our Lady Peace – Clumsy, Wallflowers – Bringing Down the Horse, She & Him – Volume One, Taking Back Sunday – Tell All Your Friends, Joshua Radin – Brand New Day, and Wakey!Wakey! – War Sweater EP.

Sorry, I guess I’m not very picky with my music… hah

T: So difficult to choose… Any Radiohead album, Jurassic 5′s Power In Numbers, DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing, The Tragically Hip’s Fully Completely, Broken Social Scene’s You Forgot It In People…..

A: Adelle’s 21

What is your dream rainboot?

M: Proooobably a really nice classic, shiny red rubber boot. I guess that would be a Hunter original tall gloss red boot.

T: I’ve seen a couple pairs of boots that are close – but I couldn’t call them my dream rainboot. The search will go on – maybe I’ll find them when we get the new Fall shipment! [I've seen what's coming, trust me, you'll have a handful of dream boots!!]

A: A short Hunter, lined with sheepskin!

There you have it! The latest (or not so latest) addition to the Dream Team here at GumDrops!

I bought these boots when they were first introduced this fall, and have been lovin’ them everyday since. They are warm, comfortable, stylish- and I have had many people mistake them for real boots. You can even remove the buckle around the ankle for a more simple look.

They are currently on sale for $57.50, but only size 5 remains!

This month’s window is not only festive, but meant to inspire warmth this season. If you’ve already got a pair of boots, look to the liner tree for help (I had to point it out- it took me awhile to make it). We now carry Hunter, Chooka, Western Chief, and GumDrops label fleece boot liners to make your boots nice and toasty warm. If you’re ready for a pair of warm boots there is no boot tree to seek advice, but I suggest checking out our Bogs, select Cougar boots, Pajar, Moov, and additional kids style.
With the holidays quickly approaching, we have extended our exchange policy: Any purchases made from December 1st-24th 2010 inclusive may be exchanged until January 10th, 2011. For more info, please visit our exchange and warranty policy page.

If you are still indecisive of what to get your loved ones (including yourself), stay close for our “12 Gifts of Christmas” (by our very own, Shanda Jerrett, Head Honcho) for ideas, discounts, and free gifts with purchase.

We wish you health and happiness this holiday season.
Be seeing you soon!
-Kathryn
